eSports venture planning announcement for Arlington venue
Frisco-based Infinite Esports & Entertainment is planning to open an eSports location in the Entertainment District
Infinite Esports & Entertainment and the City of Arlington are hosting a major announcement Wednesday about a state-of-the-art eSports venture planned for the Entertainment District in the near future.
The announcement will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Arlington Convention Center’s Grand Hall Lobby.
Among the dignitaries expected to attend are Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams, UT Arlington President Dr. Vistasp Karbhari, Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO Ron Price, and Infinite Esports & Entertainment and OpTic Gaming co-owner Neil Leibman.
NGAGE eSports President Jonathon Oudthone, Team Envy co-owner Ken Hersh and Populous Senior Principal Brian Mirakian are also slated to appear at the announcement.
eSports -- also known as electronic sports, esports, e-sports, competitive [video] gaming, professional [video] gaming, or pro gaming -- is a form of competition using video games. Most commonly, eSports take the form of multiplayer video competitions, particularly between professional players.
Infinite Esports & Entertainment, based out of Frisco, is a diversified eSports and entertainment holdings company with OpTic Gaming as a key partner.
According to their website, the company’s plan is to build an eSports ecosystem with global reach that will include long-term projects such as eSports-specific arenas.
