More mosquito spraying scheduled for this weekend
At least two of the targeted areas recently received treatment
UPDATE: Due to Sunday's severe weather, ground-spraying has been moved to Monday and Tuesday night.
Four more West Nile Virus-positive mosquito samples recovered in Arlington means more ground-spraying is planned.
Four areas will receive spraying treatment after City workers recovered the WNV-positive mosquito samples from area traps.
Two of the residential areas have already been targeted in the past – Saddle Ridge Road at Yacht Club Drive and Mansfield Webb Road at Ballweg Road.
Additionally, the area near East Pioneer Parkway and Carter Street will be targeted, along with an area near Douglas Court at North Cooper Street.
Ground-spraying will occur on Monday and Tuesday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Residents are advised to allow the spray time to settle before letting animals outside, although the City has previously said the spray is not harmful to animals.
As a rule of thumb, residents can help fight the bite by eliminating standing water, wearing long-sleeved shirts and pants when working outside, and using mosquito spray containing DEET.
Any residents with questions about the ground-spraying may contact the City’s Action Center at 817-459-6777.
