New "pocket park" opening in South Arlington
A small park is set to open along the Fish Creek Linear Park system
A new pocket-sized park is set to open in South Arlington later this spring.
The Nathan Lowe Park is an approximately 12-acre outdoor amenity which is located along the Fish Creek Linear Park system, at the northeast corner of where Tennessee Trail and Medina Drive intersect.
Approved by the Arlington City Council on August 22, 2017 as part of the 2008 municipal bond program, the $233,500 park will feature playground equipment for two age groups: 2-to-5-years-old and 5-to-12-years-old.
Swings, benches, trash receptacles, concrete pathways, landscape improvements and a park monument sign are all part of the addition.
According the City, the playground equipment features several challenging and fun components. Safety surfacing will be installed to provide shock absorbency and minimize injuries.
Nathan Lowe Park is scheduled to be “substantially completed” this spring.
