UTA senior killed in pedestrian-auto accident
A UT Arlington student was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Cooper.
A UT Arlington student was killed Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle while walking.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in the 200 block of South Cooper Street.
Eneyda Sorto, 27, of Irving, was crossing Cooper Street when she was struck by a white truck as it was turning southbound onto Cooper from Abram Street.
UT Arlington's student newspaper, The Shorthorn, identified Sorto as a senior social work student at the school.
She was transported to Medical Center of Arlington where she was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m.
An investigation is ongoing, but charges are not expected to be filed, according to an Arlington police spokesperson.
