The motorcyclist killed in a collision with a sport utility vehicle on U.S. 287 Sunday night has been identified as 62-year-old Frank Bartolic of Ennis.

Bartolic was travelling southbound and approaching Turner Warnell Road in the left lane. One lane over beside the motorcycle was the SUV.

Investigators believe the driver of the SUV attempted a lane change to the left and noticed Bartolic occupying that lane.

It is alleged that the driver then attempted to overcorrect by moving sharply to the right and then back to the left, causing the SUV to make contact with Bartolic.

Bartolic was thrown clear of the motorcycle and was subsequently transported to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead from multiple blunt force injuries.

The SUV overturned, but the driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries. No charges were filed against the driver of the SUV.

There have been four motorist fatalities on Arlington highways in the last month, including three involving motorcycles.
