Three events offering free school supplies to families
Several back to school events will offer qualifying families a chance to receive free school supplies for their children
As the start of a new school year approaches, qualifying families can take advantage of opportunities for free school supplies.
The Arlington ISD will host its third annual Back to School Kickoff event at AT&T Stadium on Saturday, August 12 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Last year, more than 12,000 students pre-registered to receive backpacks filled with school supplies.
In addition to supplies and information, students who have Medicaid, CHIP, or no insurance at all can receive free immunizations, dental screenings, vision checks, and haircuts. Shot records are required for vaccinations.
To be eligible to attend the Back to School Kickoff, students must qualify for the free or reduced-price meal program. Parents must pre-register their child online. Transportation is available for pre-registered attendees.
Free services will be offered to students in attendance, including eye exams, immunizations, haircuts and more.
There are no income requirements for entry. Mansfield’s event aims to give away 6,000 backpacks on a first come, first serve basis. Each family will be limited to four backpacks.
Additionally, vendor booths will be available and activities will be provided by each campus, including bounce houses, obstacle courses and more.
Tarrant County / Kennedale ISD
The Tarrant County Back to School Roundup will provide school supplies to more than 10,000 underserved students in the county.
Families with incomes that meet the 2017 poverty guidelines can pre-register at number of events happening around the county prior to the Roundup event at the Will Rogers Memorial Center on Thursday, August 10.
A pre-registration event is scheduled in Kennedale at James F. Delaney Elementary for Wednesday, July 12 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Another pre-registration event will occur at H&R Block in East Arlington from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1.

A valid ID, proof of residency, and proof of income is required to register for the Tarrant County Roundup. A list of qualifying documents can be found online. School supplies will be picked up at the Roundup event on Aug. 10.
