Bruce Capehart, husband of City Councilwoman Sheri Capehart, dies
He was a retired Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin
Funeral services for Bruce Capehart, husband of Arlington District 2 City Councilwoman Sheri Capehart, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at First Presbyterian Church, located at 1200 S. Collins St.
Capehart, 78, died Monday after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy.
A 1962 graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, W. Va., Capehart continued his postgraduate studies at Ohio State University, where he later taught mathematics.
His professional career continued with a position at Hughes Aircraft Corporation and a 22-year career at Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control Division. He also served as Director of Software Engineering and was a member of Lockheed’s creative workforce.
After retiring from Lockheed Martin, Capehart went to work with the Arlington ISD at the Newcomer’s Center, where he taught 7th and 8th grade mathematics.
An active community member, Capehart served as the Chair of the Child Protective Services Board of Tarrant County, and a member of the Methodist Mansfield Advisory Board and JPS Hospital Board.
He also volunteered at Mission Arlington and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.
Capehart is survived by his wife, Sheri, and sons Bruce P. Capehart and his wife, Tracey; Alex Capehart and his wife, Jule; Matthew Kennedy, and Neil Kennedy; brothers David Capehart and his wife, Loweta; Nathan Capehart and his wife, Roseanna; and Dale Capehart; and six grandchildren, Chloe, Olivia, Virginia, Camille, Ben and Juliette.
